Andrew Eales is a successful educational composer whose music has been published by ABRSM, Faber Music, and Oscar Press.
His bestselling Keyquest tuition books are made up entirely of his compositions and arrangements, which are now known, performed and loved by students throughout the UK. His KEYBAND! ensemble music for electronic keyboards is widely used and performed by schools and music services, and his ensemble pieces published by ABRSM have also proved particularly popular.
Andrew studied composition at the University of Birmingham, where his tutors included the well-known composers John Joubert and and Jonty Harrison, one of the foremost exponents of musique concrète in the UK. Jonty's influence has had a particular effect, and Andrew has embraced the use of natural sound and electro-acoustic techniques in his own works.
In additional to educational and electronic music, Andrew has composed several pieces for solo piano, and now includes his own original music in his recitals. His style is characterised by a melodic approach which brings together influences from contemporary popular, jazz, electronic and classical music, His pieces are generally meditative and he has a strong interest in the power of music to affect our emotions and consciousness.
Andrew has composed several solo piano pieces, including those you can hear on the Player below:
